Anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest
Thursday, 29 May 2008
Always in our heart....
Two of the greatest persons on earth are definitely Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. They are the first climbers to climb up the Everest Mountain. The reason why I post about this is because today is the anniversary of their ascent to Mount Everest. Sir Edmund Hillary passed away on the 11th January of 2008 at the age of 88 while Tenzing Norgay on 9th May of 1986. Although they had died, no doubt many had not forgotten them. Google have done this great logo specially as a tribute for them. Both the climbers have even inspired us to take risks and do things that are thought impossible to accomplish. So, think the impossible!

One of the quote by Sir Edmund Hillary:

Well, George, we knocked the bastard off.

—Hillary's first words to lifelong friend George Lowe on returning from Everest's summit

Blur...
Somehow I want to post something everyday, but it seems today there's nothing to post about. Weirdly, I am posting about this post about "Nothing". Anyway, I like typing. No wasting of time. In this way, I can also improve my speed. Although I can do touch-typing using all 10 fingers, but I always type the wrong letters. So, I kept "Backspace-ing, Backspace-ing, and Backspace-ing". This greatly reduces my speed.

CABALSea....
First is MapleSea. Then, CABALSea. I got these two games from my brother who has downloaded them earlier. I didn't know this until I asked him about the Maple thing. I knew of the existence of CABAL game, just the problem of downloading it that kept me not playing the game. Now I have a chance to play it, so I must play as much as possible.

Inter-nag.....
Yesterday, I was playing Maple from morning till night. I didn't even bathe or eat my dinner. My mom was like nagging me about it as well as my bro. In the end, I gave up and close my computer and went to bathe and to eat at around 12pm. Of course, I know it's not good for us, women. (Hong Sip=Leg Rheumatism), that's what going through my family generation. What to do....that's the "specialness" of our family. Accept it. Alright, get back to the topic. I found out that CABAL is pretty amazing for an online game. Quite sophisticated though. I mean the graphics and game play. I also find it fun to play.

Inter-slow.....
Maple is not bad either. The monsters are cute and not scary. At one time is fun to play, especially when other people help you to train your character. Other times, it sucks when the internet connection is so slow which make your game so lag. I haven't experience it in CABAL. Maybe later, I guess.

Inter-mood......
But, this whole morning both online games failed me. I couldn't log in into CABAL and as I explained earlier, Maple was as slow as a snail. Yesterday was fine in Maple. I could play so well without hardly any internet problems. I didn't know that the internet connection has its own mood.

Phoenix spacecraft

Phoenix successful landing....
Congrats on the successful landing of the Phoenix spacecraft. It landed on Mars on Sunday, 25 May 2008. When I see some of the pictures in internet that has first sent by the rover, I feel great to able to look at the alien planet's soil. This soil is like 35 million miles away from Earth. Isn't that awesome? The soil there looks almost the same as the soil here but that is just part of the planet's surface though. I am just excited and have this feeling that I don't know how to explain but the feeling is just good. It is not just the soil. In fact, it's the whole mission that really matters. I hope in the future, perhaps human can live on Mars as the second Earth.

MapleGlobal vs MapleSea....
Only, at 7am this morning I went to sleep until this afternoon at 3pm. I practically didn't sleep last night as I was determined to finish downloading the MapleGlobal. At last, I finished downloaded the thing, I couldn't login because it said "Unable to login to the server". So, I guessed the problem was with my location. I was supposed to download the MapleSea version but instead I had downloaded the MapleGlobal. The reason is that when I download the MapleSea, the downloading process stopped halfway and I can't resume it because it doesn't allow me to use DownloadAccelerator. I have no choice and choose to download MapleGlobal.

MapleStory

So, then I decided to ask my brother about it and he said that the problem is that I have downloaded the wrong version. As I expected....Fortunately, he said he already downloaded the MapleSea into his computer last time and he allows me to use it. Then, I thought "Why didn't I ask him earlier???"(ket sam). Problem arise during the patching process because it says the new patch is not compatible with the old version of my brother's downloaded MapleSea.

Haiz...lagi ket sam. Right now, I'm not even sure whether my brother is downloading the new version for me or not. I know if I use my computer to download the new version, the downloading process will never ever complete. Forget it.....who needs the game when you have so many online games?(What a sad side of MapleStory)

Cleaning my computer.....
Last night, I cleaned my computer parts and the table too. Not exactly a computer table. I think it is more to like a shelf for me. Lots of hard work but satisfaction in the end. When I was cleaning, I didn't realized there were so much of dusts that covered the computer and worse, I needed to rub hard in order to get rid of the oil-like substances on my keyboard. The substances were like our body's "laki". The things were so stubborn to leave my keyboard. I wonder why the dusts like my keyboard so much?? Get lost!!! Don't ever return....

Face-Alike...
Yesterday, I was watching Zathura on Astro. Then, I spotted this girl whose face is so alike as Avril Lavigne. Her real name is Kristen Stewart and she plays as Lisa in that show. The more I look at her, the more I think she looks like Lavigne. I even try to compare their faces by combining these two pictures side by side:

New Child For BabySitting

Labels: ,

Saturday, 24 May 2008
2 years old.....
It's not me who is babysitting the new child. Is my mom-la! Well, this child's mother actually didn't plan to give my mom to babysit her daughter. The story goes like this...My mother's friend met this lady in the elevator who was in desperate need to find a babysitter. So, she recommended my mother to the lady and straight brought her to my mom. That time was around 9pm at night. The lady didn't even know anything about my mom. But, she lives just very near my house. I live in Block B and this lady lives in Block C in the same area. How cool is that...Having not to no where to find a babysitter and found one who is living the same area at the last moment.

Weird but true. My mother agreed to babysit her daughter for now. Actually, now my mother is babysitting a 5 years-old child and agreed to babysit another (haven't-born-baby) in around November time this year. Since this lady who lives near my house needs a babysitter badly, so my mother agreed her. I guess my mother thinks she could handle them all. But her daughter is going to stay for this short while only because her mom is going to send her to nursery by the time my mother has to babysit the (haven't-born-baby) in November.

My mother has already started taking care of the lady's daughter yesterday. As you all know, the first day for any child especially at her age(2 years-old) to be babysitted by any babysitter is always the worst day ever. That's why yesterday, my mother had quite a hard time taking care the little child not to cry when her mother had left her with my mom. Whenever she started to cry, my mom will take her to see the fishes in the aquarium. The little child likes them. However, when she started to cry continuously, my mom will take her to pray the "Guan-yin" god in my house. In fact, she really calmed down. The kid won't be coming today as she needs to get injection. So, she will be coming on next Monday. I hope she will be better at that time...

Exam is finished....
After around 3 weeks of 'exam-mining', I am free from the mental torture now. Cheers..!!! I have examined myself more than needed. The last paper today was the Additional Mathematics 2. It was so damn hard. I could hardly do all the questions. Anyway, I just tried, using my own theory. Usually, when I don't know how to answer any of the questions, I will either 'hentam/tembak-la' because I feel it is such a waste not to even try to answer it. Well, you don't know the answer you're about to give is wrong, right? If it's wrong, at least you have tried your best.

Tonnes of works ahead.....
Although I am officially not going to school anymore for these two weeks as the mid-year holiday starts this Saturday and I am going to truant from school tomorrow, but I have a lot of things to settle at home. First, I need to cut out all the newspaper articles for myself(I am an avid newspaper cutter). Then, I need to do all 'left-over' school homeworks. I also have to finish up my own short notes for most of the subjects. The most important thing is I have to(if can...hopefully) finish playing my Hellgate London character which is level 8 now. Sweat....I only have 2 weeks time and I am not even a pro/semi-pro gamer. So, seriously, I don't think I can finish the 50 level game.

Nearing My Freedom

(1.55am).....
Yes, at last after today's last exam paper, Additional Mathematics I am free!!! MERDEKA!!! But for now, I have to stay up and not study but play some games, blogging and surfing the net first before I do some exercises on the subject. Actually, I didn't stay up all night for fun. In fact, I have been getting into this kind of habit of sleeping these few days(Aphm Kong Chiau). First, I reach home at 3pm. Then, starting to sleep from 4pm until 11pm. That's a total of 7 hours!!! After that, only I bathe and eat my dinner. What a way of life...

Hiking....
I went hiking on Monday, 19 May 2008. I didn't write a post as I was too lazy. That was my first time hiking and it felt great although it was a little bit of tiring. I went hiking at the 'Bukit Jambul' hill spot. I don't know what's the official name of the place but I know it's somewhere near INTI(International College Penang). The hill was really steep for me and I had to use a lot of force to push me up by climbing on the rocks and grabbing on the tree roots. Even the child my mother was baby-sitting followed us there. She is around 5 years old this year. I can see that she was really excited to go there. There was a just a small problem for her to climb because she was wearing a pair of slippers. Fortunately, she got some help from my uncle who is around 50 years old and he practically climbs the hill approximately 4-5 times per WEEK!!!

I don't even think my father could do that almost every single day. My muscles were aching since Tuesday afternoon especially near my thigh. Gosh..the condition got worse day after day until today I had problems climbing up and down my schools' stairs. Actually, I was quite surprised that I had agreed to follow my mom and my uncle to go for hiking as I usually don't like going out. I guess I just don't like going out for eg. shopping and instead I prefer to do recreational activities like jogging, playing badminton, hiking, and stuffs like that.

'Twin' Disasters in Asia......
I have figured out that maybe I should write something about the two disasters that happened in Asia recently.

Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar
Before that, I just want to say about the difference between cyclone, typhoon and hurricane. Actually they are all describing the same thing but with different names. Some countries like HongKong called it as typhoon while in the West, the people there called it as hurricane. Alright back to the topic. I didn't really get to read much about the aftermath of the cyclone Nargis in Myanmar in my favourite newspaper, TheStar nowadays. As far as I know, the Junta in that country are restricting the aid from other countries. Not to say that they are restricting, but just they are being 'too' cautious about receiving aid from the others.

In this case, I felt that the military Junta in Myanmar didn't realize something. If they know that they cannot handle the situations now in their country, then give a chance for the others to lend them a hand. Don't be stubborn or try to be 'showing off' to do something that you're not capable of doing. I am sure you will learn something in the end. Moreover, I pitied the victims of the cyclone there. They are not getting the aid needed and I heard diseases like cholera is spreading. This results caused by the government itself. That's why I'm angry and disappointed with the government of Myanmar. I hope they will allow more aid to be poured in the country before more people died or get suffered more.

Sizhuan Earthquake in China
Although the consequences of this earthquake to the victims are really bad, but I am pleased to know that the Chinese government are trying hard to help the victims. At least, the government there had sent tens of thousands of people to help in rescuing the people who are trapped under the buildings. They even supplied tents for the homeless people.

However, after reading about 'Why so many buildings collapsed especially schools after the quake?' I really do wonder the truth behind the corruption between the ministries. If it is not true, why would a lot of the buildings collapsed during the earthquake. I know that 7.9 magnitude of earthquake is not small but even so, still why most of the collapsed buildings are schools? I think the Chinese government should look serious into this matter before another earthquake strikes the country again and more people lose their lives.

Conclusion
Nonetheless, I am so sorry to hear about the two disasters that have occurred in Myanmar and China. I prayed for them and hope that every victims will be strong in going through this as one of the challenges by god. The journey of life is still long. Stay strong!!! The victims especially the children whose their legs and hands are amputated must face the reality and not be too sad about it. The victims must remember that the doctors did the amputation just to save valuable human lifes. So, appreciate the second chance given.

Cia-Yuh!!!!!!!
This word can be heard echoring the Senayan Stadium when China was playing against Korea in the Thomas Cup. "Cia-Yuh" means 'gambatte'/'berusaha'/'go for it'. For 3rd consecutive times, China has won the Thomas Cup and for 6th consecutive times, China has won the Uber Cup. Undeniable, China is good in badminton especially in the women contingent. It's not easy to retain a cup for 6th times. Well, China has done it again this time as they won the two cups and Malaysia however has to wait for another 2 years before has a chance to win the Thomas Cup back.

Practically, in my opinion China is good in every single things from sports to technology(although I admit that the most of the "MadeInChina-Products" have no safety precautions). But they are very creative in other ways. I guess China is competitive in many things because of its enormous of human population;

Can You Believe This?
China-Population:
1,321,851,888 (July 2007 est.)
According to http://wikitravel.org/en/China

Compare This....

United States-Population: 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.) According to https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/print/us.html

That is like 4 times the human population of United States....

On top of world.....
As you can see, China successes in many things as it has so many people in its hands. Credit must be given to them in the way the Chinese government rules their country. I believe the coming Olympic in Beijing, China is going to have the most number of gold medalists and thus on top spot of the medal list.

SAD!!!

Labels: , ,

Saturday, 16 May 2008
Sob.....
Yesterday was probably my worst, saddest day ever in this month. Officially, Malaysia had lost in the Thomas and Uber Cup altogether. Before this, the women contingent in the Uber Cup had lost to the Korea team. Now, the men contingent had lost too. They had lost to the China. I had came home early from school yesterday just to watch the first match between LeeChongWei and LinDan. Good enough, ChongWei had won the match. I was really happy at that moment.

Then into the second match. Sadly, the highly-expected-to-win Malaysian first doubles, KooKienKeat-TanBoonHeong had lost to CaiYun-FuHaifeng. I did expected them to win the match but I guessed they ran out of luck that day. Well, after that I hoped WongChoongHan would had won the third match between him and BaoChunLai. But, things were not going the Malaysian way. He also had lost to the Chinese shuttler.

I was thinking if the second Malaysian's doubles would had lost to the second Chinese pair, then it was 'bye-bye' time for Malaysia. Fortunately, MohdFairuzizuanMohdTazari-MohdZakryAbdulLatif kept the Malaysian flag flying after they won the fourth match over XieZhongbo-GuoZhengDong. I was so,so nervous during the match. I was really scared that Malaysia's hope to win the Cup would had just ended there.

Well, the last match was just another expected match. I expected that HafizHashim would lost to ChenJin. True enough, the Chinese won the match and so the road was over for Malaysia. I saw that Hafiz was having some really hard time with the Chinese shuttler. His mood changed very fast from having a good form to a sudden drop of form. Hafiz could not keep up his form and his consistency. This resulted in his lost to ChenJin. Misbun was standing at the side, showing the expression of sadness. Nothing was more sadder for me at that particularly moment Hafiz lost the last point to ChenJin. HAIZ......

I felt hopeless and totally devastated that Malaysia had to wait for another 2 years before they can compete again after they had last won the cup in the year of my birth year which was 1992. We had waited for 16 years and still in the chasing for the cup. Ironically, yesterday was 16 of May. Maybe that was a good sign for Malaysia, saying that enough is enough. Malaysia is going to win the back cup the next time. Let us all hope this way...

After that, I felt totally not knowing what to do and I slept. The time was only around 6pm and I slept from that time to the next morning of 9am. I didn't even had my dinner or my BATH!!!! Unbelievable!!! My sleeping time was 15 hours. Great, woke up this morning in my school uniform. You would not had wanted to imagine that...

Thomas Cup Semi-Final Results:

CHINA 3 MALAYSIA 2
  1. LeeChongWei bt LinDan (21-12, 21-14) 36 min
  2. KooKienKeat-TanBoonHeong lost to CaiYun-FuHaiFeng (16-21, 17-21) 39 min
  3. WongChoongHann lost to BaoChunLai (18-21, 7-21) 38 min
  4. MohdFairuzizuanMohdTazari-MohdZakryAbdulLatif bt XieZhongBo-GuoZhengDong (21-17, 21-15) 47 min
  5. MohdHafizHashim lost to ChenJin (12-21, 16-21) 42 min

Happy Teacher's Day.....

Actually, yesterday was also the Teacher's Day. I went to school although I knew that was not much to do. In fact, I had gone to school just to eat the pizza that my ex-form teacher promised to 'belanja' us. However, the party was not on that day. So, practically the whole time in school was about watching performances and sleeping. I didn't buy anything for any of the teachers. Well, that's how unappreciative I am but I still didn't forget their deed. Always in my heart...(perasan case).

Photobucket

I came home earlier yesterday just to watch the semi-final of Thomas Cup. So, I went home by car-pooling with my friend because I knew that I would had reached home by at least 3pm if I had followed the bus home. Unfortunately, my friend's car had a minor accident near Green Lane. I felt the car's sudden stop as I was sitting in the back of the car. Luckily, no one was injured and there were some damages to both cars involved.

Pizza......
Just now, I had dinner with my family in Sungai Nibong at the Pizzahut. We had mushroom soups, a seafood-topping pizza, pepsi for drink, pastas and chicken meat. Delicious is the only the word that I can describe the food. I made history there too. For the first time, I didn't use my hands to eat my food and I used the most energy to eat a chicken wing. Instead, I used the supposed-to-used fork and knife to cut the meat. Usually, I would just used my hands as I felt easier this way. But, I managed to do it this time without following my usual ways. Hahaha....('funny')

Korea-China Thomas Final...
Tomorrow is the showdown between China and Korea. I think China has a better chance to win the cup as I think if the Korea had not used their tricky trick to lost two match ups, they would not have met China in the final now. Korea has probably lost somewhere in the quarter-final. Actually, I do not support both teams but in this case, I just want to say that if Korea were to win tomorrow, it is not a good win. They did not put up neither a good fight nor the spirit of sportsmanship.

Happy Mother's Day

Mine-mother.....
Ah, tomorrow's a Mother's Day. I didn't plan to do anything or buy her anything. At first, maybe yes I wanted to. I wanted to 'belanja' her eat burgers from KFC because usually I will do that. It is not because I am trying to get her something I couldn't afford to but just something which is full after eating and kinda cheap for a whole year of taking care of me. So, I think it is worth it somehow.

This year, things are not that easy anymore especially during price inflation now. Even for a plate of rice costs RM3-4. I don't think I can afford anymore for the KFC burger. So, thought of making her a cake. Well, that thought came to me around 7pm. It is too late. My mom will go to my uncle's house tomorrow around 9am as my mother will go there every Sunday. Moreover, I will wake up around 12pm, so I guess I'm not going to do cake anyway. I didn't have the ingredients either. Although I can do her a card, but practically I'm lazy. That shows how unappreciative I am. But not from my heart. I know I love her from the inside, just that I didn't show it from the outside. Specially made this card for her.....

Thank you for taking care of me for 16 years, 5 months and 10 days(not including the 9 months). I will NEVER forget your kindness towards me and everyone in the family. There's nothing more to say...just wanto let you know that you're the best mom in the entire universe...

Ex-stasy-mination

Labels: ,

Monday, 5 May 2008
Exam...

Most students hate to hear that word. Including me. That is exactly what I am going to face for the next three weeks. Argh...!!! hate it so much. Why did I say "Ex-stasy-mination"? I can see that most students in my school are like studying and studying for this whole time. There is no other topic that is more popular right now except "-Exam-".They are like drug addicts craving for their books instead(If I said like that, it means I'm one of them too). No offence but just another stupid comparison. I can see why because students in my school are really(I mean really)competitive. Everyone wants to be the best or the least to be better than the other.

I'm gonna miss my computer for this while as I have to study..
Although I don't really think this is a healthy thing, but sometimes I also think that way. That is when I remind myself that what's the point of getting all these As by memorizing all the facts and do not really understand the true meaning of learning. You should be learning not memorizing. Another thing is that I like to be a 'street-smart' rather than a 'book-smart'. I think having hand skills is much more important than a great brain. At the same time, we must be creative to invent stuffs and be resourceful especially in this kind of era where most of the things are expensive due to price inflation.

Anyway, this life isn't just about studying. It is about enjoying and learning at the same time. 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' is a proverb that has a very deep meaning for itself.
Before leaving, I just want to say it again that study is still an important priority in our life. So, study but don't get over too extreme or stressed out.
